In many countries today it’s Labour Day, the first of May.
And this year it’s a peculiar day since we are all working from home.
Soon, some of us will gradually return to the office to collaborate with our teams, or you might be reopening your mill, or you will consider opening up shop again. Some hope is on the horizon, but our pain is not forgotten, and we are not done yet with this virus. I pray that you will all be very careful and weigh up the odds before returning to the reality of life, which will be difficult and tasking.

Now that many people are loosing their jobs, labour has somehow taken on a more positive value; and the jobs of delivery, nursing and care are suddenly at the top of the list. I’m actually curating a new design exhibit on this subject which will hopefully open in Lille this autumn.

Many voices suggest that fashion trends will be safe and rather basic, driven by comfort and simplicity, and the word uniform is often mentioned. This is why on Labour Day I wish to give you a pdf from my trend book on workwear and uniforms, which was published by Trend Union for winter 2017-2018. Somehow it correlates to many of the things we would like to see emerge in the new, more real and sober, fashions to come. Strangely, the nurse’s uniform was already there.

Hope this will inspire you and the return to another more hopeful normal.

Take care and stay safe, we need each other to rebuild society!
